Providence Benedictine Nursing Center Foundation

Area of Greatest Need
Your contributions attend to the greatest needs of residents and patients. A fluctuating reimbursement system contributes to shifts in funding priorities. This fund helps us to fill in the gaps so that holistic care is never compromised.

Building and Equipment
Each year the nursing center focuses on a special project for their patients. Donations assist with replacing/upgrading seating cushions, wheelchairs to provide safety and freedom for residents.

Home health provides support to homebound patients and their families.

Hospice
Funding provides compassionate care to patients and families facing terminal or life threatening illness with a focus on comfort and quality of life that patients and their families would not otherwise be able to afford.

Robert/Marjorie Humphreys Scholarship
Donations support scholarships to Benedictine caregivers with an emphasis on students, service partners and CNAs honoring the care Marjorie received while she was a resident in Orchard House.

Center for Medically Fragile Children
This unrestricted fund provides long-term, short-stay and end-of-life care for medically fragile children. Contributions cover the shortfall between the cost of care ($186,000 per child per year) and Medicaid's reimbursement.

Safety Net for Families
Funds provide essentials to expecting and new mom/families to help ensure newborns will have what is needed to ‘start strong.’ Providence Beginnings Social Workers will assist families with basic needs.

Swindells Resource Center
To support the Swindells Resource Center which provides families of children with special needs with the information, training and resources. All services are provided at little or no cost to families throughout Oregon.

Area of Greatest Need
During the year the hospital has a variety of capital, technology and charitable needs not included in the annual budget. Under the guidance of the Board of Directors, unrestricted gifts are allocated to help fund special capital projects.

Mother Gamelin Charity Care Fund
This fund supports the Providence Mission of serving the poor and vulnerable. It provides a wide variety of basic needs for indigent patients and their families, such as food, clothing, transportation, shelter and prescription medications.

Swindells Resource Center for Families
To support families and caregivers of children who have special needs by providing a wide range of resources to help children regardless of their diagnosis, age, language or family income. All services are offered at little or no cost.

Palliative Care Fund
Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life for patients and their families facing the challenges associated with serious illness. Funds support ongoing clinician training, community provider outreach and program staff support.

This fund supports existing and future programs at the Providence Hood River Cardiac Center for Prevention and Wellness, providing time and resources to pursue new approaches to prevention and wellness through exercise, nutrition and lifestyle.

Hospice Child and Teen Grief
This fund supports the coordinator's work for the child and teen grief program. It also provides for the supplies for the annual children, teen and adult classes, as well as camp expenses, related to sustaining and growing the program.

Supports identified projects or services benefiting individuals struggling with issues related to mental illness, substance abuse or domestic violence.

Community Teaching Kitchen/Food Pharmacy
Services include nutrition counseling, diabetes education, food insecurity screening + access to a navigator as a resource. The Family Market provides dry, fresh & frozen foods to help families who are facing hunger. Cooking classes are also available.
