Providence Health International Thank you for your interest in this remarkable opportunity in our new area of work of Health Systems Strengthening. The Sisters of Providence challenge us to, "continue to respond to the signs of the times and reach out to others [and] to reach beyond the borders of our own country as global citizens." It is in this spirit that we extend this invitation to participate in a unique service experience that allows volunteers to share your skills and knowledge with fellow clinicians in Guatemala and to learn how they provide the highest service possible to their patients in a challenging, resource limited environment. The clinicians you train will then train dozens of their own clinical staff in the local clinics and hospital with the aim of significantly improving health outcomes in maternal and child health to thousands of patients per year. Through this experience, we will ask you to reflect upon who your "neighbor" is and what it means to cross geographic and personal borders to be a global citizen. All eligible caregivers are invited to apply and will be accepted on a skills-needed, first come, first serve basis. This is a funded opportunity: Providence will cover all trip expenses (flight and in-country). The preparation for this opportunity will be labor intensive: volunteers will collaborate with team members to customize provided curriculum (all in Spanish) to meet the needs of the pre-planned agenda also provided by our in country partner. Volunteers will also participate in 3 pre-trip orientation meetings (one half day face to face curriculum meeting, and two 90 minute phone meetings), reflections in-country, and a debrief gathering following the trip.
